SUNBLEACHED

You know what I mean: those old beach towels that have spent so many days on the sand that you can hardly still see the patterns. Or the frayed sections of a beach umbrella, showing a weathered history of sun-soaked days, or the lightened fabric of a flag hanging off a front porch. “Sunbleached” aims to capture the feeling of being marked and changed by time in the sun, of filtered patterns of light on the ground and blazing hot August days.

They’re patterns; they’re illustrations;
they’re motifs of old Florida and young summer nostalgia.

These pieces emerged over the course of a few months in conversation, riffing off of each other in layers of “ghosts” (the ink left behind on a matrix after the print goes through the press) and half-repeated image snippets. They remind me of siblings or cousins, all connected and informed by the same processes, sharing many characteristics, yet operating independently.

I am so happy to share them with you. 

Pricing reflects supplies, labor, and the layers of color on each print.
Each successive layer requires drafting and carving before color mixing and inking even enters the picture.
Thus, single run prints are less expensive than two- or three-color prints.
